The Kamaz semi-trailer-ballast tractor is partly experimental, partly acting as a prototype study of a new type, designated 63953 8×8. The vehicle was developed at the Naberezhnye Chelny plant together with the Department of Wheeled Machinery at the Bauman Moscow State Technical University.
This heavy-duty off-road semi-trailer-ballast tractor can find use in both the civilian and military sectors.
It has a 2+2 axle layout, a long cab derived from Kamaz’s latest generation of cabs based on German Mercedes Axor technology, and accessories, including a reinforced radiator, mounted in a so-called “cabinet” behind the cab.
cabinet behind the cab.
Its technically permissible total weight is 36,000 kg.
The drive source is a turbocharged diesel engine with a maximum output of 550 hp.
The drivetrain formula is 8×8, and only single tires with off-road tread were put on all wheels.
In addition, the truck received an independent suspension, for its part further enhancing its off-road bravery – tactical mobility.
The designers of this car ensure that the developed components have no counterparts in the Russian automotive industry and can be used when replacing imported components installed in domestic vehicles.
In general, the Kamaz Type 63953 8×8 serves as a test specimen against which premiere components, solutions and technologies are tested.
